Violence Free Minnesota:
Clothesline Project
During the month of April, ThinkSelf will have extended office hours so members of the community can come and view Violence Free Minnesota’s 2023 Clothesline Project. Since 1992, the Clothesline Project is a visual memorial to the past year’s victims of intimate partner homicide. 2023 was an especially bad year for intimate partner violence – 39 people were killed both directly and indirectly because of Intimate Partner Violence.
Clothesline Project Goal: Annually, Violence Free Minnesota releases a new edition of the Clothesline Project, a visual memorial to the past year’s victims of intimate partner homicide. The project consists of a unique shirt for each victim designed by a volunteer artist. While many of the artists did not know the victim they honored with a shirt, some are designed by family members and friends in honor of their loved ones. The shirts are then hung on a clothesline and displayed in a public location.
ThinkSelf will have an advocate on site for connection, validation, and resource sharing. We hope to see you soon!
For questions, please call ThinkSelf at 651-829-9089, or email us at hello@thinkself.org!
Description: Text reads: Every Thursday in April – 9am-7pm. The Clothesline Project. On the bottom of the screen, Violence Free Minnesota’s logo and ThinkSelf’s logo. There are four examples of shirts created by the community in the background in squares. On the bottom right, Christine Adams, a woman with shoulder length curly hair wearing a dark cardigan signs, “Come to ThinkSelf for The Clothesline Project. We are open late on Thursdays until 7. See you soon!”
Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative
Over the past four weeks, we have had the privilege to join the YLAI 2024 Program as a Fellowship Placement Organization, collaborating with leading social impact entrepreneurs from across the Western Hemisphere in the U.S. We are so excited to continue to collaborate with our Fellow, Celimar Morais from Brazil!
In the last four weeks, Celimar has made lasting connections, assisted ThinkSelf with revamping an essential volunteer training module, and shared the things she loved about her home country. Celimar did all of these things with kindness, understanding, and a drive to make a lasting impact on all those she met. Celimar, you’ll always have a home here with us at ThinkSelf!
